Galapagos tortoises don’t reach adulthood until they're roughly 60 years old! After that, they can live to be over 150 years old.

Diet:
Wild Galapagos tortoises are peaceful herbivores. They eat a wide range of plants, including fruits and leaves. At the zoo, they are fed collard greens, kale, and the occasional sweet potato.
Habitat:
Galapagos tortoises can be found across their islands’ habitats, ranging from thick tropical jungles to drier climates.

Riverbanks has a highly successful Galapagos tortoise breeding program. The zoo has 35 tortoises at the zoo divided between three clutches. Riverbanks has sent dozens of Galapagos tortoises to other zoos around the country.
